Il tramonto di un'epoca, la presenza/assenza della figura umana, sulle tracce di quel che resta dei luoghi ABBANDONATI della ex DDR, 20 anni dopo la caduta del muro di Berlino

 

THE SUNSET è l’ultimo progetto fotografico che nasce sulle tracce della ricerca sulle fabbriche abbandonate, cambiando però direzione. Tema e obiettivo è il racconto del tramonto di un’epoca, seguendo quel che resta delle architetture e dei luoghi simbolo del potere ai tempi della DDR, nella ex Germania dell’Est, 20 anni dopo la caduta del muro di Berlino.
In questo tempo sospeso si respira l’aria della presenza/assenza dell’uomo, che in THE SUNSET si risolve nella presentazione agli occhi dello spettatore di due fotografie, dei dittici, ed in una sola appare la figura umana. Il soggetto è una donna, ossessivamente sempre la stessa, che si materializza nelle diverse inquadrature, in diversi luoghi.

E lo slittamento nel racconto è proprio questo, nel punto interrogativo, di quale sia protagonista e soggetto nelle fotografie, il luogo, o l’uomo che lo abita.

 

 

 

 THE PRESENCE/ABSENCE OF THE HUMAN FIGURE, ON THE TRACES OF WHAT REMAINS OF THE PLACES, in THE FORMER DDR, IN THE 20th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL

 

THE SUNSET is a trip in the recent history of Germany, on the traces of what remains of the places in the former DDR,in the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.

These places have still their own life, they bear the sign of the time, but they are not noticed by anyone nowadays, perhaps to erase a painful past. But people forget how many stories have gone by inside, and how many are still inside in these no one man land that silently keep on standing.

Photographs are presented as dyptichs, to see how perspective and the significance of these places could change with or without human presence.
